if Mars was closer to the sun then it would be quicker for us to get it right for humans to live on Mars.
the sun would give Mars extra heat for us to live there. if Mars was hotter then it wouldnt be as long for us to live there, when it still would take ages if it wasnt closer.
the extra sunlight might then burn a bit of the poisonous gases there. so humans wouldnt get piosoned if we ever live there.
so it would make it more possible for us to live on Mars.
